Especially for Australian choirs and solo singers, here are six hot-off-the-press arrangements of Christmas in Australia – the theme song from the made-for-TV movie Blinky Bill’s White Christmas.
I first heard this great little piece of Australiana back in 2005 when the movie first aired on the Seven Network. It then surfaced again in 2007 when it was performed by Christine Anu at Sydney’s Carols in the Domain. But outside of those two instances, I’ve not heard it again. And this is a real shame.
Christmas in Australia
Personally, I believe that this Australian Christmas song deserves to be much better known and much more widely performed than is currently the case.
As I mentioned before, Christmas in Australia is the theme song from the animated, made-for-TV movie “Blinky Bill’s White Christmas”, a spin-off from the Blinky Bill children’s books by Dorothy Wall and the “Adventures of Blinky Bill” TV series. The telemovie was written and directed by Guy Gross who also wrote the theme song, along with lyricist John Palmer.
Six new arrangements, all readily available
